Vegan in Disney World

Disney World is truly the most magical place on earth. Being as Disney is extremely accommodating to vegan/plant-based diets, when my mom and I were planning our most recent trip, we prioritized finding unique dining experiences beyond just delicious vegan foods. By simply mentioning my dietary restrictions to our servers, we were met with enthusiasm and understanding, enhancing our dining experiences throughout the parks. Below I have listed all of my favourite Disney World dining spots for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert across every park which have fantastic vegan options.

  • We stayed at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, so naturally we dined at the Grand Floridian Café every morning. This restaurant is so bright, classy, and elegant, fitting the theme of the resort. Upon request, they can make the iconic Mickey waffles vegan, as well as the buttermilk pancakes, and avocado toast. I’ve tried and loved all three options. They’ll even bring out vegan biscuits to start and they have vegan butter.

Lunch was the easiest meal to accommodate. In my experience, there were yummy plant-based options at every quick-serve and sit-down restaurant throughout every park and resort. Here are three of my favourites…

  • The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant in Hollywood Studios was such a cool 1950’s drive-in style restaurant. Each booth is in a 1950’s car and there is a black and white movie playing on the big screen the entire time. I ordered the Flying Saucer Impossible Burger with fries and the plant-based cookies & cream milkshake. I personally love when there’s a plant-based milkshake option, and this restaurant offers all of their milkshake flavours in a plant-based style upon request. My entire meal was delicious, but the cookies & cream milkshake elevated the meal for me.

  • The Satu’li Canteen was a large quick-serve restaurant in Pandora World, Animal Kingdom. I ordered the Chilli-Spiced Crispy Tofu Bowl and it was fabulous. Great flavours, a subtle spice, and really well-cooked crispy tofu (I love when tofu is cooked crispy).

  • The final restaurant was one of our favourites of the entire trip. Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen in Magic Kingdom is African meets Asian meets Latin cuisine. They had many plant-based or could-be-made-plant-based options on the menu. I ordered the Curried Vegetable Crew Stew with the Falls Family Falafel starter. Both were divine.

  • Les Chefs de France in Epcot’s France was an incredibly classy and fresh dining experience. I love a reason to dress up and this dinner was it for me. The service was incredible; quick delivery, gorgeous plating, and delicious food. I ordered Ratatouille sur quinoa, Salade de chèvre chaud without the cheese, and Assiette de Sorbets du jour, which is freshly made sorbet.

  • The Edison is a 1920’s speakeasy-themed restaurant in Disney Springs. Live music, a gorgeous dimly-lit setting, and what I would consider my favourite meal of the trip. I ordered the Imposter Burger with fries, the Smoke and Mirrors mocktail, and sorbet for dessert.

  • Terralina Crafted Italian in Disney Springs is a casual Italian restaurant. Our server suggested I order spaghetti with marinara sauce and veggies. The marinara sauce was flavourful and I enjoyed this off-menu meal. They also had great mocktails. I drank Sunlight on the Riviera.

  • The best dessert discovery I’ve ever made in Disney World is Epcot Norway’s chocolate Norweigan Kringla. Before going vegan five years ago, I was obsessed with Magic Kingdom’s churros. There’s nothing like a sweet doughy dessert. I thought I would never have that experience in Disney again…until I discovered Kringla! Kringla comes either drizzled in chocolate or covered in sliced almonds. There’s always a bountiful amount of Kringla at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe.

  • Ghirardelli in Disney Springs offers a delicious Non-Dairy Hot Fudge Sundae. There is generally a lot of vegan ice-cream-esque treats throughout the parks, but this sundae is one of the best.

  • Salt & Straw in Disney Springs is a cute ice cream shop with an extensive menu and various coconut-base vegan ice creams. Mint chip is my favourite flavour, so I tried their Freckled Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream in a bowl. This was the best mint chip ice cream I’ve ever tried. I appreciated that they didn’t dye their ice cream mint green; they just kept the natural colour, and I loved the crunch to the chocolate chips.

  • Dole Whip is an iconic creamy pineapple treat. I tried it for the first time this trip and loved it! It’s very reminiscent of classic soft serve, which I haven’t had in many years. Dole Whip is available throughout Magic Kingdom.

  • Frozen lemonade and frozen Coca-Cola is available throughout all of the parks and are refreshing slushy-like drinks to sip while walking throughout the hot parks. Available throughout the parks.
